The Midnight Flighty (by Rebekah and Dad)

Flying high mile after mile,
Pilot soaring clouds in style.
Touching stars with all his might,
This is such a wonderful flight.

Left or right he can't decide,
anywhere leads to a beautiful ride.
Tighten your seatbelt, handle with care;
This dynamite flight can go anywhere.

He can fly all night, he's never tired.
A cup of coffee he's fully wired.
In spite of the fact the trip is almost over,
he'll plan his next flight with his dog, Rover.

Why My Homework is Late (by Jonathan Miciano)

Swallowed my pen,
Lost my pencil,
Didn’t even have a stencil.
Forgot my math book,
Homework unfiled,
Lost my way into the wild.
Had drum lessons,
Time for dinner,
Can’t skip it or I’ll get thinner.
Ripped my pages,
Stomach groaning,
Went to bank to settle loaning.
Fell asleep,
Lost my key,
Was attacked by a bee.
Fixed my light,
Fixed my door,
Had to run down to the store.
Fed my dog,
Battle fought,
Had to get a rabies shot.
Went to Asia,
Went to France,
Taught my sister how to dance.
Asleep early,
Caught the flu,
Didn’t know what quite to do.
Was day dreaming,
Slept at twelve,
Was kidnapped at night by elves.
Hour painting,
They locked the gate,
And that is why my homework’s late.
